This first book by Ms. Jansen takes the reader through generational attitudes toward marriage, family, religion and mental illness. Nia, the protagonist, by growing through her own life challenges of marriage, child-rearing, loss and addiction, ultimately finds that rather than succumbing to pain, her hearts desire is found in honesty and a willing embrace of life as it is.

This is a great book. It explores and unpacks a lot of emotions that I think women gloss over when making big decisions regarding love and chosing partners. Bride Doll is full of great storytelling, lovely characters and we all deserve a happy ending.

Not every fairytale romance is smooth and seamless. Most of the time, it isn't. We carry with us generational trauma, which affects our relationships. Nancy does a wonderful job of taking the readers through generations of choices in love and takes us on a journey of a woman who is determined to "get it right." I highly recommend this beautiful story and hope you see yourself in the characters, as I did.
